MS Teen Jaret Raney ID’d As Victim In Wednesday Night Jackson Fatal Motorcycle Crash

JACKSON, MS. (THECOUNT) — Jaret Raney, an 18-year-old from Clinton, Mississippi, was killed Wednesday evening in a motorcycle crash on Medgar Evers Boulevard in Jackson, according to authorities.

The fatal crash occurred around 6:00 p.m. on December 17, 2025. Jackson Police Department officers and emergency responders were dispatched to Medgar Evers Boulevard after reports of a serious motorcycle accident involving a single rider.

Investigators said Raney was operating a Honda CBR motorcycle when he allegedly lost control of the bike. Police stated the motorcycle left the roadway and collided with an embankment. Raney was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hinds County Coroner Jeramiah Howard formally identified the victim as Jaret Raney. No other vehicles were reported to be involved in the crash, and no additional injuries were reported.

Authorities have not released information indicating excessive speed, impairment, or mechanical failure as contributing factors. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and officials have not said whether charges or citations are anticipated.

Medgar Evers Boulevard is a major thoroughfare in Jackson that carries steady traffic and has been the site of multiple serious crashes in recent years. The roadway connects several neighborhoods and commercial areas and is frequently used by both commuter traffic and motorcyclists.

Jackson police have not released further details about road conditions, lighting, or whether weather may have played a role at the time of the crash. Mississippi Department of Transportation data indicates that motorcycle fatalities often increase during evening hours, particularly during winter months when daylight fades earlier.

Officials continue to remind motorists and riders alike to remain alert, obey posted speed limits, and exercise caution, especially on high-traffic corridors. Motorcycle crashes often result in severe or fatal injuries due to the lack of protective structure compared to passenger vehicles.

The investigation into Raney’s death is ongoing. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information that could assist investigators is encouraged to contact the Jackson Police Department.
