NEW ORLEANS, LA. (THECOUNT) — Despite his mother’s pleas to avoid the crowded, unpredictable New Year’s celebrations on Bourbon Street, Matthew Tenedorio was identified as one of the 14 fatalities in the horrific French Quarter terrorist attack.
In a somber statement, the New Orleans Saints expressed deep sorrow over the loss of Tenedorio, a valued member of the ASM New Orleans video production team, killed in the horrific New Year’s terrorist attack on Bourbon Street. Matthew’s mother had tried to dissuade him from going to Bourbon Street for the New Year’s celebrations due to safety concerns, telling him, “Please, don’t go there tonight. It’s too crowded, too unpredictable,” in what would be their final conversation.
Despite her pleas, Matthew, a young and promising member of the ASM New Orleans video production team, was remembered by the NFL team as “heartbroken” by the tragedy. “Among those lost was Matthew Tenedorio, a valued member of the ASM New Orleans video production team,” the Saints’ statement read.
“Matthew was young, talented, and had a bright future, helping deliver quality content for both the New Orleans Saints and Pelicans.” His father spoke of how his son had achieved his dream job at the Caesars Superdome, a testament to his passion and dedication to his work.
After hearing about the attack, the Tenedorios attempted to reach their son, but when their calls went unanswered, dread settled in, confirming their worst fears.
This tragedy was not isolated; among the 14 lives lost was also Tiger Bech, a former football player for the Princeton Tigers, adding another layer of grief to the community and highlighting the indiscriminate nature of the attack.
