Utah Dad Fatally Shoot Son Over ‘Withholding Information’ About Mother’s Affair

SALT LAKE CITY UT. (THECOUNT) — On Christmas Eve, a tragic event unfolded in Utah when Harold Luster, 61, allegedly shot and killed his son, Kevin Ward, 26, of St. Louis, Missouri, following a heated argument about an alleged affair involving Luster’s wife. The incident occurred around 8:55 p.m. local time on Tuesday, December 24, at a residence in Jefferson County.

According to a probable cause affidavit, the argument escalated when Luster accused his son and his fiancée of withholding information about his wife’s supposed infidelity. The confrontation turned violent when Luster reportedly threatened his son’s pregnant fiancée, saying, “Do you wanna get shot?”

In response, Kevin Ward instructed his fiancée to retrieve a knife and to call 911 if necessary. As she moved to leave the room, Ward attempted to de-escalate the situation by telling his father, “You’re not going to shoot her.” However, Luster chillingly retorted, “You want to get shot instead?” before allegedly firing a single bullet into Ward’s forehead, causing his immediate death.

Luster has been charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of armed criminal action. He is currently held in custody without bond and has pleaded not guilty to the charges on Thursday, December 26, as reported by KSDK.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the investigation is ongoing. No further details on Luster’s legal representation have been disclosed at this time.
