WATCH: Drones Go Rogue During Florida Holiday Show, Crash into Crowd Critically Injuring Boy

ORLANDO, FL. (THECOUNT) — A holiday drone show at Lake Eola Park took a horrifying turn Saturday evening when technical failures caused drones to fall from the sky, injuring multiple attendees, including a child now fighting for his life.

The incident occurred during the 6:30 p.m. “Sky Elements Drones” performance in downtown Orlando. Spectators reported chaos as dozens of drones crashed into each other and plummeted into the lake, ground, and audience.

Footage from the event captured one drone hurtling toward the crowd, with an onlooker shouting, “Watch out, watch out!” Moments later, screams erupted as drones collided. Videos shared on social media show drones falling and gaps in the formations where devices malfunctioned.

The Orlando Fire Department confirmed one person was hospitalized with minor injuries, while two mothers, Jessica Lumedge and Adriana Edgerton, reported that their young son sustained life-threatening injuries.

“Pray for my son. We went to the drone show, and one of the drones hit him in the face,” Lumedge wrote on Facebook, sharing an image of her son in the hospital with visible injuries. She later revealed the child required emergency heart surgery due to the severity of the incident.

Edgerton expressed her anguish, stating, “I’m terrified for my baby. I can’t believe a holiday event turned into this nightmare.”

Despite the chaos, the show continued until its scheduled end, leaving many attendees in shock. The planned 8:00 p.m. performance was later canceled.

The City of Orlando and Sky Elements Drones issued apologies, with the city stating, “We are in contact with the vendor to determine what occurred with the operation.” The FAA has launched an investigation into the malfunction, but neither the Orlando Fire Department nor Sky Elements Drones have released further comments.

The incident has sparked public outrage, with calls for accountability from Sky Elements Drones and the City of Orlando. Social media users have expressed concern over safety measures and demanded stricter regulations for drone shows.

As the investigation unfolds, the families impacted by this tragic event are left grappling with its aftermath, hoping for answers and justice.
