McDonald’s U.S. to Launch ‘Chicken Big Mac’ Nationwide

FOODIE WORLD. (THECOUNT) — McDonald’s U.S. is bringing a fan-favorite from its U.K. menu to select locations across the country. Starting on October 10, the Chicken Big Mac, which saw major success in the U.K., will be available for American customers to try, but only for a limited time. The burger offers a fresh twist on McDonald’s classic Big Mac by replacing the traditional beef patties with crispy tempura-battered chicken, giving it a lighter and different flavor profile.

The Chicken Big Mac retains the signature elements of its predecessor—two chicken patties, special sauce, shredded lettuce, pickles, and American cheese, all stacked between the classic sesame seed buns. For those who have enjoyed the iconic Big Mac since it was first introduced in 1967, this version offers a change while maintaining the beloved structure and ingredients that have made the Big Mac a staple of fast food.

McDonald’s tested the Chicken Big Mac last year in Miami, gauging customer reactions before deciding to roll it out more broadly. The U.K. launch was such a success that the item sold out within 10 days of its introduction, and the American market may see a similar response. The initial buzz surrounding the launch suggests McDonald’s U.S. is hopeful for a strong reception.

Despite the anticipation, it remains to be seen how American customers will embrace the Chicken Big Mac compared to the original beef version. While many fast food enthusiasts enjoy trying new offerings, the Big Mac has stood the test of time for more than five decades. The limited-time nature of the Chicken Big Mac may generate a sense of urgency among fans, eager to experience a fresh take on their favorite sandwich.

This launch also reflects a growing trend within the fast food industry—introducing menu items from other international markets to the U.S. McDonald’s, in particular, has seen success with this strategy, often rolling out items that have performed well in other countries. Given the Chicken Big Mac’s popularity in the U.K., the company appears confident that U.S. customers will embrace the new option.

The decision to offer the Chicken Big Mac on a limited-time basis allows McDonald’s to test its popularity without permanently altering the menu. Should the sandwich be well-received, there’s always the possibility that it could return in the future, as other limited-time offerings have done in the past.

Fans of the original Big Mac will be able to compare the two versions and see how the chicken alternative stacks up against the classic. For McDonald’s, this provides an opportunity to offer variety while maintaining the brand’s core identity.

As McDonald’s continues to explore creative new offerings, the Chicken Big Mac is sure to draw significant attention from both loyal customers and those curious to try something new. Whether it surpasses the original Big Mac in popularity remains to be seen, but the nationwide rollout of the Chicken Big Mac is yet another example of how the company continues to adapt to changing tastes while staying true to its roots.
