ATLANTA, GA. (THECOUNT) — Platinum-selling rapper Rich Homie Quan, born Dequantes Lamar, has died at the age of 34. The Atlanta artist, known for his breakout hits “Type of Way” and “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh),” passed away on Thursday at his home, according to his family and the Fulton County morgue.
Rich Homie Quan’s family has expressed their devastation over his untimely death, and they are currently searching for answers as no cause of death has been confirmed.
Quan made his mark in the rap world in 2013 with chart-topping singles and collaborations with major artists like Young Thug on the Cash Money Records project Rich Gang. He was also known for his frequent work with Atlanta stars like 2 Chainz and Jacquees.
Most recently, Rich Homie Quan spoke out about the state of modern hip hop, criticizing its violent themes and lack of creativity. His sudden death has left the hip hop community in mourning.
