ASHEVILLE, NC. (THECOUNT) — A juvenile has been charged with first-degree murder following a fight on July 13 that left Caleb Savon Gilliam, 29, dead, according to the Asheville Police Department. APD worked in consultation with the Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office to bring the charge.
On the evening of July 13, Asheville police officers responded to a report of a fight at Livingston Apartments. Upon arrival, they found Gilliam with serious injuries from a physical altercation involving blunt force trauma. He was transported to Mission Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
“This marks the sixth homicide in Asheville this year,” said APD spokesperson Samantha Booth.
