AIRWAY HEIGHTS, WA. (THECOUNT) — 40-year-old Christina Gernert, of Post Falls, Idaho, has been identified as the victim in a Saturday night fatal motorcycle crash near Spokane, Washington.
A fatal incident occurred on State Route 2 near milepost 268 in Airway Heights around 6:50 pm.
Gernert was operating a 2020 Harley-Davidson Heritage Classic eastbound when she apparently attempted to pass another vehicle by entering the westbound lanes.
Gernert was struck head-on by a Ford F150 operated by 70-year-old Donald P. Charlton of Harrah, Washington.
Charlton was uninjured in the wreck.
Gernert was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
