HOUSTON, TX. (THECOUNT) — A 9-month pregnant woman opened fire on a man who was attempting to rob her and her husband at a Houston, Texas, gas station on Tuesday.

Graphic video shows the would-be robber approach the woman and her husband before pistol-whipping the husband. At that point, the female reaches into her purse retrieves a handgun. The mother-to-be then fires several shots neutralizing the attacker. The suspect was later identified as Mario Ipina Duque.

According to reports, police responded to a shots fired call at a gas station at 8605 Fulton Street in Houston last Tuesday. When they arrived, officers found a male and a female holding an injured suspect at gunpoint.

Duque was suffering from several gunshot wounds. He was hospitalized and is expected to survive.

The husband and wife, who were not identified, were both detained at the scene and the involved weapons were recovered.

Surveillance video shows Duque displaying a weapon and threatening to kill the male. He then struck the male with the pistol. The female and the male both produced guns and, in self-defense, shot Duque. They then held him at gunpoint and called 9-1-1.

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at a gas station and found a male and a female holding a suspect at gunpoint. The suspect, later identified as Mario Duque, had sustained several gunshot wounds, reports foxla.

Charges were filed against Duque. He is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful carrying of a weapon.
