POLK COUNTY, NE. (THECOUNT) — Cole Pensick, of Columbus, Nebraska, has been identified as the victim in a Saturday morning fatal vehicle crash in Polk County.
Pensick, 32, a former Husker offensive lineman, was killed in a single-vehicle crash near Columbus Saturday morning.
According to reports, Pensick was operating a Chevy Silverado on 141st Road near Q Road in Columbus, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle traveled through a stop sign before exiting the roadway around 6:45 a.m. Saturday.
Pensick was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries at the scene.
Pensick graduated from Lincoln Northeast High School before playing spending five seasons in the Nebraska football program under then head coach Bo Pelini. Pensick played in 36 games, starting 14 games for the Huskers. He played both center and guard for the Big Red.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
