VERNON COUNTY, MO. (THECOUNT) — Gordon Stephen Buttorff, of Walker, Missouri, has been identified as the victim in a fatal vehicle collision in Vernon County.
Buttorff, 58, was killed in a two-vehicle crash involving 21-year-old Samuel Spring of El Dorado Springs, Missouri Friday night.
According to reports, Buttorff was operating a Nissan Altima on MO-54 near Nevada, Missouri, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and into opposing lanes around 10:10 p.m. Friday. The vehicle then came into head-on contact with a Jeep Renegade operated by Spring.
Buttorff was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries at the scene.
Spring was transported to an area hospital with unknown serious injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
