ANDROSCOGGIN COUNTY, ME. (THECOUNT) — Zachery Cowett, of Hartford, Maine, has been identified as the victim in a Saturday night fatal vehicle crash in Androscoggin County.
Cowett, 32, was killed in a multi-vehicle crash in Auburn Saturday night. Stephen Witham, 50, of Lewiston, and 35-year-old Elise Harvey, of Hartford, have been identified as the other involved drivers.
According to reports, Witham was operating a Dodge Ram pickup truck on Turner Road/ Route 4 in Auburn, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and into opposing lanes around 5:20 p.m. Saturday. The vehicle than came into contact with a Nissan Rogue SUV operated Harvey.
The dodge then collided with a Nissan Murano operated by Cowett.
Harvey and three teenage passengers were treated and released for minor injuries.
Witham was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries not considered life-threatening.
Cowett was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries suffered in the wreck.
Witham was operating the vehicle on a suspended driver’s license, according to officials.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
