BLOUNT COUNTY, AL. (THECOUNT) — Donna Ann Casey and Barbara Heflin, both of Oneonta, Alabama, have been identified as the victims in a Friday afternoon double-fatal vehicle crash in Blount County.
Casey, 59, and 64-year-old Heflin, were both killed in a multi-vehicle crash that also injured a child near Oneonta Friday afternoon.
According to reports, Casey was operating a Kia Forte on U.S. 231 near Oneonta, when the vehicle was rear-ended by a Ford Van operated by Christopher R. Brown, 50, of Ashville around 2 p.m. Friday. The force of the collision then pushed the Kia into a GMC Sierra operated by Will C. Berry, 38, of Oneonta.
Casey and her passenger Heflin were pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries at the scene.
A 3-year-old child riding in the Kia suffered unknown injuries and was airlifted to an area hospital.
It is unclear if anyone else was injured or cited in the wreck.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
