LEE COUNTY, FL. (THECOUNT) — Ion Dumitru, of Cape Coral, Florida, has been identified as the victim in a Thursday fatal motorcycle collision in Lee County.
Dumitru, 58, was killed in a two-vehicle motorcycle crash in Cape Coral Thursday afternoon.
According to reports, a 72-year-old Cape Coral woman was operating a Hyundai Kona on Old Burnt Store Rd S near Southwest 1st Street in Cape Coral, when she performed a left hand turn in the path of Dumitru’s motorcycle.
Dumitru was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries at the scene.
The driver of the Hyundai sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
