IREDELL COUNTY, NC. (THECOUNT) — Gary Wayne Hammond, of Stanley, North Carolina, has been identified as the victim in a Tuesday fatal vehicle collision in Iredell County.

Hammond, 50, was killed in a multi-vehicle crash in Mooresville Tuesday afternoon.

According to reports, Hammond was operating a Chevrolet Silverado on Interstate 77 near Mile Marker 32 in Mooresville, when the vehicle came into contact with an International tractor-trailer around 1 p.m. Wednesday. The Silverado then spunout and came into contact with a Volvo tractor-trailer.

Coach Hammond was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries at the scene.

The truck drivers were uninjured in the wreck.
