SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA. (THECOUNT) — Isabella Herrera, of Oceanside, California, has been identified as the driver arrested in a Sunday morning fatal pedestrian vehicle strike in San Diego County.

Herrera, 22, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after killing a male pedestrian in the Vista area Sunday morning.

According to reports, Herrera was operating a Buick Verano on CA-78 near Emerald Drive in Vista, when her vehicle came into contact with the pedestrian and his disabled Chevrolet HHR that was stopped on the center median around 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

The pedestrian, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries at the scene.

Herrera was transported to an area hospital with moderate injuries. She was later arrested and charged with a DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter.

The investigation is ongoing.
