SEDGWICK COUNTY, KS. (THECOUNT) — Rebbecca Lynn Shields, of Newton, Kansas, has been identified as the victim in a Friday fatal vehicle crash in Sedgwick County.
Shields, 26, was killed in a two-vehicle collision involving a semi-tractor near Valley Center late Friday afternoon.
According to reports, Shields was operating a 2007 Saturn Ion on Interstate 135 near East 101st Street North in Valley Center, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and into opposing lanes around 3 p.m. Friday. The vehicle then came into contact semi-tractor hauling a trailer.
Shields was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries at the scene.
No one else was injured in the wreck.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
