HIDALGO COUNTY, TX. (THECOUNT) — Melissa De Leon, of Monte Alto, Texas, has been identified as the victim in a Friday fatal vehicle crash in Hidalgo County.
De Leon, 48, was killed in a two-vehicle crash involving a semi-tractor near Monte Alto just after midnight Friday.
According to reports, De Leon was operating a Nissan Rogue on FM 2812 near Engelmen Gardens Road near Monte Alto, when the vehicle came into contact with a Freightliner Tractor Truck towing a utility trailer around 12:06 a.m. Friday.
De Leon was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries at the scene.
The driver of the Freightliner was not injured.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
