DURHAM COUNTY, NC. (THECOUNT) — Carlos Corona Cortes and Jessika Carapia-Madrigal, both of Durham, North Carolina, have been identified as the victims in a Tuesday morning double-fatal vehicle crash in Durham County.
Cortes, 27, and 21-year-old Carapia-Madrigal, were both killed in an early Tuesday vehicle crash in Durham.
According to reports, Cortes was operating a Chevrolet Camaro on East Cornwallis Road near Beechwood Drive in Durham, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle spun out, crossed centerlines and exited the roadway around 1:40 a.m. Tuesday. The vehicle then came into contact with a utility pole and a tree.
Both occupants of the vehicle were pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries at the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
