EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH, LA. (THECOUNT) — Geore Hankton, the grandson of Tyrone Casby, prominent New Orleans Mardi Gras Indian Big Chief of the Mohawk Indians, has been identified as the victim in a Friday night fatal shooting near Southern University campus in Baton Rouge.
Hankton, 19, was killed after he and another teen were shot at an apartment complex near Southern University Friday night.
According to reports, the fatal shoot occurred around 6 p.m. in the parking lot area of an apartment complex near the 7800 block of Scenic Highway in Baton Rouge, just southeast of Southern’s main campus.
An 18-year-old male was injured in the shooting. He was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
No motive or suspect information was provided by officials.
