PITT COUNTY, NC. (THECOUNT) — Aveon Isaiah Collins Smith, of Greenville, North Carolina, has been identified as the victim in a Monday shooting and subsequent vehicle crash in Pitt County.
Aveon Collins, 25, died after he was shot and later involved in a vehicle crash in Greenville early Monday morning.
According to reports, officers responded to reports of a vehicle crash at 1806 East 1st Street in Greenville after midnight Monday. When they arrived, officers found a Nissan Maxima crashed into an apartment building.
Investigators then found Collins inside the vehicle suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Collins was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of gunshot and blunt force trauma injuries.
The resident of the involved apartment was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
No suspect or motive information was provided in this apparent “targeted attack.”
