WASATCH COUNTY, UT. (THECOUNT) — Ken Block, a professional rally driver and the co-founder of motor racing team Hoonigan, and DC Shoes, has been identified as the victim in a Monday fatal snowmobile crash in Wasatch County, Utah.
Block, 55, died from of injuries suffered following a snowmobile rollover crash near Mill Hollow Monday afternoon.
According to reports, Block was operating a snowmobile on a steep slope, when the vehicle upended, landing on Block around 2 p.m. Monday in Mill Hollow.
Block was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries at the scene.
Block had been riding with a group but was alone at the time of the accident, according to the sheriff’s office.
Block won five X Games medals in rallycross.
In 2004 DC Shoes was acquired by Quicksilver for $87 Million, helping the company reach $1 Billion in revenue.
Hoonigan released a statement confirming Block’s death.
“Ken was a visionary, a pioneer and an icon. And most importantly, a father and husband. He will be incredibly missed,” read the statement in part.
