CUMBERLAND COUNTY, NC. (THECOUNT) — Christopher Fields, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, has been identified as the suspect arrested following a Monday night fatal vehicle crash in Cumberland County.

Rhonda Ashford, 50, of Fayetteville, was killed in a two-vehicle suspected DUI crash Monday night.

According to reports, police arrived on the 400 block of Langdon Street in Fayetteville on reports of a vehicle crash around 8 p.m. Monday. Officers found Ashford in a wrecked vehicle suffering from apparent blunt force trauma injuries.

Ashford was pronounced dead at the scene.

31-year-old Chris ‘Goldenboy’ Fields, who was identified as the other involved driver, was later charged with second-degree murder, driving while impaired, reckless driving and driving on a revoked/suspended license.

Fields is being held at the Cumberland County Jail on a $250,000 secured bond.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
