BENTON COUNTY, AR. (THECOUNT) — Paul Daniel Newell, of Gravette Arkansas, has been identified as the Benton County Sheriff’s Department Detective killed in a motorcycle crash while escorting the Wreaths Across America procession through Bentonville Saturday.
Newell, 51, was on-duty when he was killed following a motorcycle escort crash Saturday in Bentonville.
BCSO says Detective Newell began his law enforcement career as a detective with BCSO on Dec. 1, 1998. He later graduated from the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training academy.
He served as a patrol deputy, patrol sergeant, training sergeant, lieutenant in the administration section and most recently detective assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division.
BCSO says Detective Newell was “a certified instructor in numerous courses and placed a high emphasis on sharing his training and experience.”
“Please keep the family and the law enforcement brothers and sisters in your prayers,” the DPS said in a Facebook post.
Further details of the crash were not provided.
