SCOTT COUNTY, MO. (THECOUNT) — Mallory Carter of Brighton, Illinois and Audrey Smith of Bridgeton, Missouri, have been identified as the young women killed Saturday night in a triple-fatal vehicle crash in Scott County, Missouri. 20-year-old Andrew Marzuco of Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, has been identified as the young man killed.
Carter, 19, and 20-year-old Smith, were killed along with Marzuco in a single-vehicle crash near Benton Saturday night. Three other young women were injured.
According to reports, Carter was operating a Ford F-150 pickup truck with Smith and Marzuco as passengers, when the vehicle wrecked while attempting to avoid an animal in on Interstate 55 near Benton around 7 p.m. Saturday. The vehicle then exited the roadway and came in contact with a tree.
Carter, Smith and Marzuco were pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries at the scene.
A 20-year-old Ste. Genevieve woman and a 24-year-old Chesterfield woman suffered minor injuries. A 22-year-old St. Louis woman suffered moderate injuries. They were all transported to area hospitals in unknown condition.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
