ALLEGHENY COUNTY, NC. (THECOUNT) — Joseph Edwards, of Sparta, North Carolina, has been identified as the victim in a Tuesday morning fatal vehicle crash in Alleghany County.
Edwards, 30, a 7th-grade teacher at Central Wilkes Middle School, was killed in a two-vehicle crash involving a deer Tuesday morning.
According to reports, Edwards was operating a Ford Ranger on NC-18 near NC-88 in Laurel Springs, when a Ford F-150 pickup truck, that had struck a deer in the roadway, lost control and came into contact with Edwards’ vehicle around 6:45 a.m. Tuesday.
Edwards was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries at the scene.
The driver of the F-150, a 26-year-old man from Laurel Springs, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
