CATTARAUGUS COUNTY, NY. (THECOUNT) — Julia Horton has been identified as the teenage victim in a Saturday night fatal vehicle crash in Cattaraugus County, New York.

Horton, 17, was killed, and several others injured, in a Saturday night crash in the Town of Machias.

According to reports, Horton was traveling in a vehicle, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle exited the roadway and made contact with a tree around 10:30 p.m. Saturday.

Horton was pronounced dead at the scene.

Shirl Stafford, Riley Edwards and Catrina Dibble have been identified as those injured in the wreck. Two of them are listed in critical condition. The remaining occupant received minor injuries.

The Cuba-Rushford Central School District released the following statement:

“On Saturday, October 29th, there was a car accident that resulted in one CRCS student fatality and injuries to two other CRCS students. Our thoughts and prayers are with the friends and families of Julia Horton, a junior, who was killed in the car accident. On Monday we will have counselors available in the building to meet with and support our students throughout the day as needed. If you have concerns regarding your child, please call the guidance office at 585-968-2650.”
