WV Mom & Daughter Sherri McClanahan, Dotty Hayes ID’d As Victims In Wednesday St Albans DUI Crash

KANAWHA COUNTY, WV. (THECOUNT) — Mother and daughter, Dotty Lou Hayes, 73, and Sherri Lynn McClanahan, 53, both of Hurricane, West Virginia, have been identified as the two people killed in a Wednesday double-fatal crash involving a suspected DUI driver in St. Albans.

McClanahan was pronounced dead at the scene, while Hayes died shortly after being transported at an area hospital. A male and a 6-year-old child were transported in critical condition.

Andrew Wyrick, of Hurricane, West Virginia, has been identified as the suspected DUI driver in a Wednesday evening crash that killed two people and critically injured a 6-year-old child in Kanawha County.

Wyrick, 25, is facing multiple counts of DUI causing death and bodily harm following a two-vehicle crash in St. Albans on Wednesday.

According to reports, Wyrick was operating a vehicle on MacCorkle Avenue & Winfield Road SW in Saint Albans, when the vehicle crossed centerlines and into opposing lanes before coming into head-on contact with a Chevrolet Equinox Wednesday around 4:30 p.m.

According to records, both of the surviving victims suffered internal injuries and broken bones.

Wyrick escaped the crash uninjured.

Wyrick admitted to investigators to using a cannabis cartridge about 30 to 45 minutes before the crash, “hitting a Delta-8 and Delta-9 THC” several times, according to the criminal complaint from Kanawha County Magistrate Court.

Wyrick was transported to jail and faces two counts of DUI causing death and two counts of DUI with serious bodily injury.
