PEORIA COUNTY, IL. (THECOUNT) — Samuel Vincent Richmond, of Peoria, Illinois, has been identified as the man fatally wounded in a Monday night police-involved shooting in Peoria County.
Richmond, 59, was shot dead during a Monday night encounter with police in Peoria.
According to reports, Peoria police responded to a call of shots fired near Martin Luther King Park in the area of West McBean Street and Brotherson Street in Peoria around 10:15 p.m. Monday. At some point after they arrived, Richmond was shot multiple times by police.
Richmond was pronounced dead at the scene of gunshot injuries.
The deadly incident remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police.
