SARATOGA COUNTY, NY. (THECOUNT) — Alex Bleickhardt, of Pottersville, New York, has been identified as the TowAway driver killed in an apparent DUI crash Thursday night in Saratoga County. Justin Rodriguez, 41, of Moreau, is facing charges in connection with the multi-vehicle crash.
Bleickhardt, 33, was preparing to tow a disabled box truck on Interstate 87 Thursday night around 10:40 p.m., when Rodriguez exited the roadway, drove onto the shoulder, and made contact with the box truck, tow truck and Bleickhardt.
Bleickhardt was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.
Rodriguez transported to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said Rodriguez has multiple convictions for DWIs, and his license had been permanently revoked. He was arraigned in Wilton Town Court and remanded to the Saratoga County Correctional Facility without bail.
The investigation is ongoing.
