BARTON COUNTY, MO. (THECOUNT) — Shelby Stinnett, of Joplin, Missouri, has been identified as the victim in a Saturday morning double-fatal vehicle crash Barton County.
Stinnett, 30, and an unidentified teen driver, were both killed in a two-vehicle crash in Liberal early Saturday morning.
According to reports, Stinnett was operating a Toyota Highlander on MO-43 in Liberal, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and into opposing lanes around 5 a.m. Saturday. The vehicle then came into head-on contact with a Ford pickup truck operated by a 17-year-old male driver.
Both Stinnett and the teen pickup driver were pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries at the scene.
Two teen passengers in the pickup were transported to area hospitals with unknown injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
