NE Man Taylor Arizola Arrested After Stealing Dying Friend’s Motorcycle From Lincoln Crash Scene

LANCASTER COUNTY, NE. (THECOUNT) — Taylor Arizola, of Lincoln, Nebraska, has been identified as the suspect accused of hauling off a motorcycle of a man who had crashed and lay dying in a Lancaster County roadway Friday night.

Erik Calhoun, 29, who according to Facebook is friends with 25-year-old Arizola, was involved in a motorcycle crash with suspected DUI driver, Jared Burt, 37, of Lincoln Friday night. At some point before authorities arrived, Arizola arrived on the crash scene and removed the motorcycle as Calhoun lay dying in the roadway.

Calhoun was transported to an area hospital where he later died of blunt force trauma injuries.

In a recent Facebook post, Arizola said the following about Calhoun‘s passing:

I was with you EVERYDAY called you every morning telling you to wake your ass up and get to work , Ima miss you bro and all the good times we had , all the laughs and joking around , always trying new places to eat , you were such a good father your girls loved you ! According to officials, Calhoun was operating a motorcycle on North 27th Street near Cornhusker Highway in Lincoln, when he allegedly ran a red light before coming into contact with a Ford pickup truck operated by suspected DUI driver, Burt.

Police say, the bike was then stolen from the crash site before first responders arrived. Witnesses reported seeing a group pick the bike up and put it in the back of a pickup truck before fleeing the scene.

Taylor was later arrested for tampering with evidence.

Another person is accused in being involved in removing the bike from the scene but that individual has not been publicly identified.

A motive for removing the motorcycle from the scene was not provided by officials.
