MONROE COUNTY, WI. (THECOUNT) — James Dean Olson, of Sparta, Wisconsin, has been identified as the victim in a Thursday night fatal vehicle crash in Monroe County.
“JD” Olson, 16, was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Sparta Thursday night.
According to reports, Olson was operating a vehicle on County Road Highway BC ner Fairway Road in Sparta, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle exited the roadway around 10:50 p.m. Thursday. The vehicle then rolled over down an embankment coming to a rest in a shallow creek bed.
Olson was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries at the scene.
Olson was an incoming junior at Sparta High School.
The school district released the following statement:
“The Sparta Area School District would like to extend our deepest and sincerest condolences to JD’s family, friends, and all who knew him,” the district’s statement read. “As a District, we will be establishing a support plan that we will be sharing with families to assist students during this tragedy.”
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
