DADE COUNTY, MO. (THECOUNT) — Matt Bushey, of Bolivar, Missouri, has been identified as the victim in a Wednesday fatal vehicle crash in Dade County.

Bushey, 47, Dadeville School District Superintendent, was killed in a Wednesday morning crash that seriously injured two teens.

According to reports, Bushey was operating a vehicle, when a 16-year-old driver crossed centerlines and came into head-on contact with Bushey’s vehicle around 7:15 a.m. Wednesday.

The 16-year-old pickup driver and a 17-year-old passenger were transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. They were not identified.

Bushey was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries at the scene.

The school district issued the following statement:

“Dear Dadeville School families, It is with heavy hearts that I share with you the passing of Superintendent Matt Bushey. Dr. Bushey was lost in an automobile accident this morning just prior to the school day. As you know, this is the first day of school and we understand the emotions that our staff and students are feeling. Counselors have been on hand today and will be in future days for those who need assistance. The Board of Education members, staff and I grieve his passing and ask that you join us with thoughts and prayers for his family. Additional information will be shared as it becomes available. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
