UNION COUNTY, NC. (THECOUNT) — Wingate University freshman student-athlete Kyle Honore has been identified as the pedestrian fatally struck by a train near campus Tuesday night in Union County, North Carolina.
Honore, who played for the university Bulldogs men’s basketball team, died after being struck by a train Tuesday night in Wingate.
According to campus officials, Honore was killed in a train-versus-pedestrian collision around 10:45 p.m. near the entrance of the university.
Honore was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead fo blunt force trauma injuries.
The cause of the deadly incident remains under investigation.
