HIDALGO COUNTY, TX. (THECOUNT) — Vicente Ortiz Jr., of Donna, Texas, has been identified as the victim in a Thursday fatal motorcycle crash in Hidalgo County.
Ortiz, 29, a TDCJ Law Enforcement Correctional Officer and a member of the Redeemers Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club, (Redeemers L/E M/C,) was killed in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash early Thursday in Alamo.
According to reports, Ortiz was operating a motorcycle on Frontage Road near E. Expressway 83 in Alamo, when the bike may have come into contact with an animal in the roadway around 2:15 a.m. Thursday. The rider then lost control and wrecked.
A passing vehicle then ran over Ortiz.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is not facing criminal charges at this time.
Ortiz was pronounced dead of injuries suffered in the crash.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
