VIRGINIA BEACH, VA. (THECOUNT) — Wayne Jette, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, has been identified as the victim in a Thursday vehicle crash near the Naval Air Station Oceana.

Jette, 61, was killed while traveling as a passenger in a single-vehicle crash in Virginia Beach Thursday night.

According to reports, Jette was traveling as a passenger in a Jeep on the 2300 block of Harpers Road, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and exited the roadway around 8:30 p.m. Thursday. The vehicle then flipped over.

Jette, who was ejected during the wreck, was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
