MARION COUNTY, IN. (THECOUNT) — Eli Hickerson, of Carthage, Indiana, has been identified as the victim of a Monday night road rage fatal shooting in Marion County.

Hickerson, 30, was fatally shot on Monday by a man police say was wearing an ankle monitor at the time he pulled the trigger. 22-year-old Dion Kimbrough of Indianapolis was arrested on charges of murder and possession of a handgun by a serious violent felon, according to police. He is being held in the Marion County Jail on a no-bail order.

The deadly incident played out on Interstate 70 while Hickerson was operating a box truck, when for unknown reasons, Kimbrough opened fire on the vehicle striking Hickerson.

Hickerson was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of gunshot injuries.
