WAYNE COUNTY, IN. (THECOUNT) — Justin Schmeichel, of Greenwood, Indiana, has been identified as the victim of a Sunday vehicle crash in Wayne County.
Schmeichel, 21, was killed in a single-vehicle crash near Richmond early Sunday morning.
According to reports, Schmeichel was operating a Honda Civic on IN-38 near King Road in Richmond, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and exited the roadway around 2 a.m. Sunday. The vehicle then came into contact with a guardrail before becoming wedged between a pair of trees.
Schmeichel, who was ejected from the vehicle during the wreck, was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.
Officials did not discover the crash scene until around 9:20 a.m. Sunday.
Local press outlets identified the victim as Justin “Schmichel.”
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
