WAKE COUNTY, NC. (THECOUNT) — — Erin Simanskis, of Cary, North Carolina, has been identified as the pedestrian struck by a hit-and-run vehicle Friday night in Wake County.
Simanskis, 63, an employee of WRAL, was critically injured in a hit-and-run vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision in Raleigh Friday night.
According to reports, Simanskis was operating a vehicle on Western Boulevard near Interstate 440 in Raleigh, when she was involved in a minor vehicle collision during a snowstorm. At some point, Simanskis exited her vehicle to exchange information, when she was struck by a van that then fled the scene.
Simanskis, a WRAL weekend assignment editor, was transported to an area hospital where she is currently listed in critical condition.
