JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL. (THECOUNT) — Katherine Marie Dykes, of Birmingham, Alabama, has been identified as the victim in a Sunday fatal vehicle crash in Jefferson County.
Kay Dykes, 25, was killed in a single-vehicle crash near Birmingham Sunday morning.
According to reports, Dykes was operating a vehicle on the 9300 block of Parkway East in Birmingham, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and exited the roadway around 4:50 a.m. Sunday. The vehicle then came into contact with a substantial tree and a utility pole.
Dykes was pronounced dead on the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
