TANGIPAHOA PARISH, LA. (THECOUNT) — Nannette Benoit Briggs, of Lafayette, Louisiana, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Wednesday vehicle crash in Tangipahoa Parish.
Briggs, 77, the wife of Don Briggs, former President of Louisiana Oil & Gas Association, was killed in a two-vehicle crash near Hammond Wednesday morning. Don was injured in the wreck.
According to reports, Don was operating a vehicle with his wife as his passenger, on Interstate 12, near Interstate 55 in Hammond, when the vehicle came into rear-end contact with a commercial truck around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Nannette was pronounced dead on the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.
Don was transported to a local area hospital with unknown injuries.
The driver of the truck was not injured.
