CT Police Officer Josh Castellano ID’d As Victim In Friday Las Vegas Rolls Royce Fatal DUI Crash

CLARK COUNTY, NV. (THECOUNT) — UPDATE: We are now learning that the driver, as well as the passenger killed, were police officers out of New Haven, Connecticut. The officer who was killed has been identified as, Joshua Castellano, 35, a 7-year veteran of the New Haven Police Department. He was assigned to the Shooting Task Force.

Robert Ferraro, of East Haven, Connecticut, has been identified as the driver in a Friday morning fatal vehicle crash in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Ferraro, 34, was allegedly impaired when he crashed a Rolls Royce SUV with five passengers in Las Vegas early Friday morning. One male passenger died following the crash.

According to reports, Ferraro was operating a Rolls Royce Cullinan on Spring Mountain Road near Decatur Blvd in the Chinatown district of Las Vegas, when for still to be determined reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and exited the roadway around 4 a.m. Friday. The vehicle then came into contact with a parked Ford Mustang, a series of utility poles and a fire hydrant before flipping over.

Castellano, who was ejected during the crash, was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries.

“The driver of the Rolls Royce remained at the scene and showed signs of impairment,” police said in a report.

Ferraro was booked at the Clark County Detention Center on suspicion of driving under the influence and reckless driving resulting in death. Ferraro was scheduled for an initial appearance in Las Vegas Justice Court at 9 a.m. Saturday, according to jail records.

Police said Ferraro, along with two other men and two women also in the SUV at the time of the crash, suffered minor injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
