PIMA COUNTY, AZ. (THECOUNT) — Maria Alejandra Varela, of Tucson, Arizona, has been identified as the pedestrian in a Tuesday morning fatal vehicle strike in Pima County.
Varela, 35, was killed after she was struck by a vehicle early Tuesday in Tucson.
According to reports, Varela was on-foot in the area of 6001 South Campbell Avenue in Tucson, when she was struck by a Mercedes Benz sedan around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Varela was transported to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
The driver remained on scene and cooperated with arriving officials.
No one was cited at the scene.
The cause of the deadly incident remains under investigation.
