POLK COUNTY, FL. (THECOUNT) — Christopher Moore, of Bartow, Florida, has been identified as the suspect involved in a Monday night Polk County crash after he admitted he stole the backpack of dying motorcyclist, Blake Adam Gilmore, 21, of Auburndale.

Moore, 30, was arrested on charges of petit theft and tampering with evidence, after he admitted to deputies that he stole the backpack from the crash site on Monday night in Bartlow. He remains in the Polk County Jail.

According to reports, 32-year-old Brittany Young, of Bartow, was operating a Chevrolet Malibu with passengers, Moore and 29-year-old Anthony Spurlock, also of Bartow, when the vehicle came into contact with the Suzuki 600 motorcycle operated by Gilmore near State Road 60 and Old Connersville around 6 p.m. Monday.

Gilmore was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.

Moore was caught by deputies as he was fleeing the scene with Gilmore’s backpack.

Young was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.

Moore and Spurlock were uninjured in the crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
