BURBANK, CA. (THECOUNT) — KFI 640 AM morning host, Bill Handel, is to undergo heart surgery, according to the station.
Thursday, Handel called into the station while hospitalized, saying he is to undergo heart valve replacement surgery.
His current valve has become infected, according to the call-in.
“Now they have to crack my chest,” Handel told his replacement host. “The valve is definitely infected.”
In 2011, Handel underwent successful open heart surgery to replace the same aortic valve.
