VIGO COUNTY, IN. (THECOUNT) — Detective Greg Ferency has been identified as the veteran law enforcement officer shot and killed Wednesday afternoon outside an FBI Task Force building in Vigo County, Indiana.

Ferency, 53, was fatally shot near Wabash Ave and 1st Street in Terre Haute.

The Terre Haute police officer was shot by a suspect about 2 p.m. Wednesday while outside a federal office behind the Vigo County Courthouse.

A suspect also suffered gunshot wounds and was taken into custody after driving himself to a local hospital.
