JEFFERSON PARISH, LA. (THECOUNT) — 12 People are reported missing and six were rescued after a large commercial boat capsized off the cost of Jefferson Parish, Louisiana Tuesday afternoon.
The “Seacor Power,” left port around 2:12 p.m. Tuesday. According to sources, the vessel capsized shortly after 4 p.m. near Grand Isle.
The Coast Guard did not have any information on the condition of those rescued.
The Coast Guard and several good Samaritan vessels are continuing search and rescue efforts just miles south of Port Fourchon where the Seacor Power capsized Tuesday afternoon.
Lafourche Parish President Archie Chaisson confirmed that 18 people were on board before the 256-foot lift boat, named the Seacor Power, took on water sometime before 7 p.m. CDT.
