CHEROKEE COUNTY, SC. (THECOUNT) — Sherron Shenette Alexander, of Gaffney, South Carolina, and Gary Parks, of Campton, Kentucky, have been identified as the victims in a Thursday night double-fatal multi-vehicle crash in Cherokee County.
Alexander, 50, and Parks, 61, were both killed in a six-vehicle crash involving a semi-tractor near Cowpens Thursday night.
According to reports, Alexander was operating a Nissan Altima on Interstate 85 in Cowpens, when the vehicle slowed down in a construction zone near mile-marker 87, around 10:30 p.m. Thursday. The vehicle was then rear-ended by a Volvo tractor-trailer, operated by parks.
The Altima then burst into flames.
Alexander and Parks were both pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force and thermal injuries.
Four additional vehicles involved in the crash, however, no one else was injured.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
