NEW KENT COUNTY, VA. (THECOUNT) — Freda Pruitt, of Lanexa, Virginia, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Thursday night vehicle-versus-train crash in New Kent County.
Pruitt, 55, was killed in a vehicle collision involving a train near Lanexa Thursday night.
According to reports, Pruitt was operating a Honda Odyssey on Outpost Road near Rockahock Road, when the vehicle collided with a freight train at a railroad crossing controlled by a stop sign late Thursday night.
The train conductor and engineer were not injured in the collision.
Pruitt was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries at the scene.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
